Fishbowl Is Where Professionals

Come To Connect And Talk

At a time when the entire world is overcoming challenging work conditions, human connection is more important than ever.  We found that fishbowl recognizes that.  With most of the population suddenly working remotely, it is all too common for people to feel lost, alone, or stuck in their work. Building a community that feels encouraging and safe can be difficult when you can’t leave the house.  As globally recognized filmmaker, Ken Burns noted in speaking with the Today Show about his new “Honor Your Hometown” Campaign, “We Yearn for Community. We Yearn for Community.” Ken actually said this back to back during the interview. We agree with Ken and that is why we chose to introduce you to fishbowl this month. Luckily fishbowl does all the hard work of building a safe community for you.

Fishbowl prioritizes conversations over self-promotion. The relatively new social media app, available on iOS and android, creates a place of safe communication and mentorship among various industries. With a rating of 4.6 stars on the app store, fishbowl continues to grow and evolve with changing work environments.  The app allows you to choose from thousands of industries, companies, or community “bowls”. You can customize your feed according to your industry and personal interests. You can connect with other people in your field, ask questions, and share experiences all in one place.  Fishbowl is FREE to all users and offers a variety of tools to help you network, share, connect, and learn.

Begin By Signing Up Here

When you download the app from the app store you will be asked to create a profile. Fishbowl is for students and professionals in all industries. Once you enter your name, company, and title (or school) you can use your work email, LinkedIn, google account, Facebook, or apple account to verify your profession. This is fishbowl’s Unique way of grouping you with similar fishbowl users.

Create Your Customized Community

Fishbowl will automatically customize a feed to your industry and job title. You will be connected to other professionals through “bowls” (groups), and you can add or remove bowls as you like. Fishbowl allows users to create their own bowls as well. Heather Baldock is a Senior Copywriter in Boston and the creator of the “Women in Advertising” fishbowl. We talked to Heather about her experiences within the app. “My favorite part about fishbowl has been finding a safe space to ask really nuanced questions specific to my advertising experience.  Before joining, I didn’t know a lot of spaces for women in advertising, especially where I could ask questions or share stories anonymously.  It’s been incredible to find that community and I’ve connected with some incredible women in that space.”

Start or Join A Live Event

Fishbowl offers live audio events hosted by a variety of people. These events can be business related, offering tips and insights to your field, or they can be aimed towards personal growth and finding a work-life balance. The app’s priority is to provide a safe space for all users to communicate and learn freely from one another without judgement.

Find or Post A Job

Fishbowl also offers job listings catered to your industry. You can post jobs for your company or apply to jobs yourself. You can search through jobs based on title, location, desired salary, and companies and post in the same way.

LinkedIn … Clubhouse … fishbowl

Social Media Platforms Comparisons

Of course, we have seen all these features before. Apps like LinkedIn and Clubhouse offer similar spaces for professionals and students. So how does fishbowl compare to those platforms that have already had the spotlight? The most obvious advantage that fishbowl has is that everything is in one place. You don’t need a separate app for groups, another for live events, and another for job applications. Everything is in one package, and FREE!   When you check out fishbowl you will find it is comparable to Clubhouse.  Both environments are highly robust.  Clubhouse has a variety of different topics available for users across a broad umbrella of global interests. Fishbowl is all about creating a customizable community and narrows topics down to professional interests or, in other words, finding your own professional tribe. When asked about LinkedIn, our user Heather expressed, “Although LinkedIn is a valuable tool, it doesn’t always feel as genuine, because your professional identity is on display. The conversation at fishbowl is much more unfiltered and, therefore, comes across more authentic.”

Connect with Authenticity

The Marketing Immersion team values fishbowl’s efforts in leveling the playing field for all industries. Fishbowl is dedicated to ensuring that every user feels safe, included, valued, and inspired. It is that feeling of straight talk and the ease of connectivity with your “tribe” that makes this app really stand out.  So, if you are looking for an app that allows you to join and attract a curated, safe community, check out fishbowl.  We believe it will be worth your time and you may discover genuine connections, your “forever tribe”.

Please feel free to reach out with any follow up questions or comments. We Would Love To Hear From You.
